In search of new good usb sticks

It’s time again to buy some new USB sticks, but it needs to be an upgrade. I have got mainly two requirements for those. They need to be reasonably fast to write to and they need to have an USB-A plug aswell as an USB-C plug to guarantee maximum compatibility, so I can give those to customers and they don’t have to use an adapter.

The following benchmarks were all made on my Macbook M1 Max using the USB-C plug of the sticks.

Benchmark of my old favourite: SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive USB Type-C 32GB#

Item#: SDDDC2-032G-G46 This is the stick I have now. I’ve got only 2 left, all the others seem to have disappeared to some customers.. The speed is ok but it would be nice if they have more write speed. The mechanism to get out one of the two plugs wore out pretty good, it’s a hassle to plug these in after some usage time..

SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe USB Type-C 32GB#

Item#: SDDDC4-032G-G46 The machanism to get out one of the ports seems much mor resistant to wear, as it would propably at some time start to turn freely, but this should not interfere with the plugging in process.

It’s a bit slower to read from, but it has about 50% more write speed. Still not fast, but much better.

Advertises speeds up to 55mb/s while writing and 150mb/s while reading, during my tests it’s far off both of them. Especially the random read / write test shows significant flaws. Would not recommend.
