In search of new good usb sticks
It’s time again to buy some new USB sticks, but it needs to be an upgrade. I have got mainly two requirements for those. They need to be reasonably fast to write to and they need to have an USB-A plug aswell as an USB-C plug to guarantee maximum compatibility, so I can give those to customers and they don’t have to use an adapter. The following benchmarks were all made on my Macbook M1 Max using the USB-C plug of the sticks. -
French cleat designs
Recently I got to upgrade my workshop and while doing so, I put a huge french cleat installation on one wall to sort through all my tools and have them in reach. At the same time my old employer started the same, also there are plans to do the same in the Chaostreff Dortmund, so expect more desings in the future! Turns out there’s plenty of designs for 3d printers, well. -
Serverside splitting of livestream audio into different streams
In the last days I did a livestream that was translated simultaniously. At first we had two streaming pc’s which streamed both the exact same picture with to different mono audio channels to youtube. This meant we had 2 audio interfaces, 2 pc’s, 2 capture cards, 2 screens I need to monitor, as well as an internet connection that easily supports 2 streams. Well, we’re in germany, so thats not so easy. I thought: There has to be a better way!

Problems with the Arduino Ethernet Shield
Today I tried connecting two Arduinos with Ethernet Shields, to be exact arduino leonardo eth clones because it’s not available anymore. I wanted to toggle a boolean via Multicast, both Arduinos should be able to toggle the value on both devices, but they were not able to send packets. The DHCP client does not work either.

Ultrawide Youtube Videos - 21:9
Most videos - taken on your phone or your favourite tv show - are currently produced in 16:9. It was also the default for most cinema movies, but not that long ago it was replaced by 21:9 “ultrawide”. Even on youtube you can find more and more videos in ultrawide - for the cinema look!

Teamwork in DaVinci Resolve
DaVinci Resolve is a pretty good software for editing videos. Because I have some Blackmagic Design cameras, I also have access to DaVinci Resolve Studio. In studio you can work together as a team on a projectserver, is this possible in the free version? Yes!
